Article Content:
In our ever impatient culture for new and more effective anti-aging beauty therpapies, the device manufacturers have been pushing to provide the fountain of youth seekers new and improved ways to tell these people how young they really are.
Ingredient manufacturers have been touting the benefits of all sorts of ingredients, in paticular the nutrients found in dark leafy greens and fruits that fall under the categories of anti-oxidents also known under the broad category of phytonutirents. The consuming public has been inundated by polyphenols, bioflavenoids, carotenoids and other yet to be discovered anti-aging beauty constituents. Yet, the majority of these constituent components of fruits and vegetables are not even discovered and we are already expected to measure their levels in our blood and other physiological fluids.
The most notable system has been marketed by the well known multi-level marketing company Nu-Skin, which called it’s anti-oxident measurement company (and related supplements products) Pharmanex which was supposed to be able to tell how effectively your body metabolised food and at what level these new wonder nutrients were at in your blood to fight the oxidizing effects of the cellular and molecular processes in your body. It seems that the Pharmanex program (sticking your thumb in a light sensing clamp and waiting for a readout) did it’s job for Nu-Skin, but nothing for the reality of how a persons body actually converts food products into these necessary free-radical fighters.
